Join us for the 8th Annual Project Engage Showcase, featuring science outreach projects created by Fellows in the Latham Scientific Engagement Initiative (LSEI). Through this program, students receive training in science communication methods, acquire project management skills, and strengthen future career and award application by designing and implementing science outreach projects. Students will present their projects and interact with the audience on Saturday, April 29 from 9:30 -11:30 in the BBE atrium. Come and go as you please!

Join us for a showcase of our ISA Senior Capstone projects! Students developed their own projects to connect their research to community issues or problem. Each student will be providing a brief overview of their project. Detailed schedule and Zoom link available here.

The Latham Science Engagement Fellowship, administered by the Iowa Sciences Academy, is for undergraduate student researchers interested in communicating science to varied audiences. Fellows work across disciplines to collaboratively develop and implement science outreach projects. Apply now before the April 17 deadline!

10 Iowa Science Academy students were nominated and selected in recognition of their exemplary, innovative work in their chosen field. Students recognized through this campaign are showcased on a banner in downtown Iowa City. 

Each year, 20 students from all three regent universities (the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the University of Northern Iowa) bring research posters to display at Iowa's Statehouse. Students use their posters as a backdrop to discuss their work with Iowa's legislators. This event also allows students to practice discussing their work with officials, outlining the community/global impact, educational benefits, and importance of their research. Graduate students pursuing a doctorate in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences can apply for one of five graduate assistantships in the areas of writing, editing, community engagement, and performing arts marketing and communication. The positions are part of a five-year pilot project that provides CLAS doctoral students with unique opportunities to gain diverse experience in outreach, engagement, and writing that will benefit career preparation.
