Graduate students pursuing a doctorate in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences can apply for one of five graduate assistantships in the areas of writing, editing, community engagement, and performing arts marketing and communication. The positions are part of a five-year pilot project that provides CLAS doctoral students with unique opportunities to gain diverse experience in outreach, engagement, and writing that will benefit career preparation.

The Latham Science Engagement Initiative is accepting submissions for publication in Synthesis: A Digital Journal of Student Science Communication. If you have any work of interest that you would like published, please submit to: https://pubs.lib.uiowa.edu/synthesis/submissions/. The deadline to submit material for our next issue is February 5th!

The ISA Symposium is coming up Saturday, December 3rd from 10-noon.  The event will feature a series of short talks from current ISA students! Great opportunity to hear about undergraduate research & tour a few research labs! Open to the public, live & on Zoom.

Congratulations to our Science Alliance interns, IBA scholars, and students in the UI-MARC and UI-LSAMP programs for their poster presentations at FURF 2022.

Our two graduate ghouls had some great activities for Halloween. We viewed pumpkin cells and worms under microscopes, had an opportunity for dissection and a petting zoo with some very chill Hissing Cockroaches on loan from the entomology lab!

This is an opportunity to introduce meet experienced researchers in STEM fields on campus, such as Biology, Health & Human Physiology, Psychology, Chemistry, and more! Introduce yourself and learn more about topics such as: getting started in research, developing hands-on laboratory skills, and communicating research to the public. Enjoy refreshments and a chance to mingle, while satisfying your curiosity about scientific research!
