Pathfinders + Undergraduates interested in research
This is an opportunity to introduce meet experienced researchers in STEM fields on campus, such as Biology, Health & Human Physiology, Psychology, Chemistry, and more! Introduce yourself and learn more about topics such as: getting started in research, developing hands-on laboratory skills, and communicating research to the public. Enjoy refreshments and a chance to mingle, while satisfying your curiosity about scientific research!
Mentors
We are looking for faculty, post-docs, and/or graduate students to attend this event and share their experiences as professional scientific researchers. Those who are looking to fill undergraduate research positions are encouraged to attend, but it is not a requirement.
We will ask mentors to mingle with small groups of students. During this time, we encourage mentors to share their area of study, enthuse newcomers about the benefits of research, and provide advice on pursuing undergraduate research opportunities on campus. Our goal is to provide a comfortable space for students to ask questions about research, as well as a chance for mentors to meet new people who are passionate about science.
As always, we appreciate the time spent with our students. Feel free to come and go as your schedule allows. Refreshments will be available during the event, so stop by for a free snack and a chance to chat about science.
Please forward this information to anyone in your research group that may be interested in attending!
Questions or requests for accommodations to attend this event? Please email kelley-withers@uiowa.edu or briante-najev@uiowa.edu.
Hope to see you there!
