The selection process to become a Latham fellow is described below:

• Currently UI-enrolled sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are interested in science research can submit a free application to become an Latham fellow.
• Personal qualities of the applicant, including leadership ability, character, motivation, intellectual independence and likely contribution to the vitality of the program will all be considered.
• Depending on the applicant pool, interviews may be conducted.
