The selection process to become a Latham fellow is described below:

• Currently UI-enrolled sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are interested in science research can submit a free application to become an Latham fellow.
• Personal qualities of the applicant, including leadership ability, character, motivation, intellectual independence and likely contribution to the vitality of the program will all be considered. This will be assessed based on coursework and grades, answers to essay questions, and the resume/CV.
• Interviews may be conducted.
