Biography

Hailey Kingsbury is a third year Doctor of Audiology (AuD) student at the University of Iowa. Hailey obtained her B.S. from Miami University in Speech Pathology and Audiology with minors in Disability Studies and Comparative Religion. Hailey has been involved in research both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. At Miami University, she conducted an independent research project investigating the usage of American Sign Language mouth morphemes in Deaf children with Autism. At Iowa, she has been involved in projects in the Audiogenomics Lab looking at epigenetic factors of tinnitus and hyperacusis in young adults. Her capstone is being completed under the mentorship of Dr. Beth Walker and investigates the effects of ear canal acoustics and self-generated noise on audiometric thresholds in preschoolers. Hailey also is a certified TESOL teacher and taught English abroad in Luxembourg and online to children in China. Hailey is passionate about American Sign Language, and hopes to work as a cochlear implant clinical and research audiologist in the future. She is excited to join the Iowa Sciences Academy for the 2023-24 academic year!
