Latham Science Engagement Initiative Fellowship Program
The Latham Science Engagement Fellowship Program, is geared toward undergraduate student researchers interested in communicating science to varied audiences. Fellows work across disciplines to collaboratively develop and implement science outreach projects. Note the course and other requirements below.

Requirements to Apply: 

Current Freshman, Sophomore or Junior standing; One semester of undergraduate research experience (minimum); GPA >3.0; Interest in communicating science in the public sphere

IOWA - In the Mix (May 18-19, 2023)
In The Mix is a two-day, interactive workshop designed for undergraduates to gain hands-on experience with data science, chemistry theory, and experimental techniques that are critical to the development of materials for new generations of energy storage technologies. Participants will also tour Alliant Energy's English Farms wind power station (near Montezuma, IA) and have a discussion with the site managers to learn about environmental impacts of wind power, including a new system to reduce impact on local bat populations. 4/29/2023 Careers in Human Genetics Information Day

A full day event to expose students and educators interested in human genetics to the variety of careers necessary to deliver personalized medicine. Speakers will give 20-to-30-minute presentations over their education, training and descriptions of daily activities. Lunch is always provided; during lunch, a panel of experts will talk about the highs and lows of their career development.

This eight-week summer internship is designed to provide individuals wishing to pursue a career in genetic counseling hands-on experience. Prior human genetics experience is not required however applicants should have successfully completed undergraduate genetic coursework prior to the internship start date. Anyone interested in pursuing a career in genetic counseling is welcome to apply and is especially beneficial for students with limited access to human genetics opportunities at their home institution. Please note this is a competitive internship, therefore preference will be given to upper-level undergraduate students and recent college graduates.

Deadline Extended to March 1st.  The Master of Marine and Environmental Sciences (MMES) program which offers offers instruction in planning, conducting, and evaluating scientific research and using research to manage natural resources. The MMES degree prepares graduates for careers in academic, government, non-profit, and private sectors. McNair Scholars Research Program for UG Prep for PhD Programs
The McNair Scholars Program is a federal TRIO program funded at 151 institutions across the United States and Puerto Rico by the U.S. Department of Education. It is designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. McNair participants are either first-generation college students with financial need, or members of a group that is traditionally underrepresented in graduate education and have demonstrated strong academic potential.
