Biography

Joe Starr earned his BS in computer science and BS in Mathematics from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. After attaining his degrees, he spent 5 years working in automotive embedded software, building parts for all major US auto manufacturers. He is now a fourth-year doctoral candidate in the Department of Mathematics directed by Dr. Isabel Darcy working on tabulation of two string tangles, with a particular interest on the use of tabulation in undergraduate research.
