Joe Gomes is an assistant professor of chemical and biochemical engineering. He received postdoctoral training in the Departments of Chemistry and Bioengineering at Stanford University, where he worked on method development and applications of deep learning in physical, chemical, and biological sciences. Professor Gomes's research group focuses on method development at the intersection of theory, computation, and deep learning with applications in the areas of computer-aided materials and drug design, catalytic and electrochemical systems, energy generation and storage, and multiscale, multiphysics modeling. He is a contributing developer for Q-Chem, a quantum chemistry software package, and DeepChem, a library for molecular machine learning.

I am a neuropathologist with a particular interest in pediatric and fetal neuropathology. I graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2008. I completed two years of general surgery residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston before doing a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School. I then did a residency in anatomic pathology at Beth Israel before moving to Mount Sinai to do my neuropathology fellowship.
